Myofascial Trigger-point Needling for Chronic Tension-Type Headaches

This article discusses a study completed using acupuncture needles and compared the results of needling into the trigger points and “sham needling”  into the areas around the acupuncture.  Usually “sham needling” is an inferior methodology for acupuncture research because it focuses on classical acupuncture point found on meridians rather than the area of injury. This article however, highlights the importance of needling into the myofascial trigger point in muscles in order to reduce chronic tension-type headaches.
